Edward J. Hill

 

Ed Hill's practice emphasizes workers' compensation law, social security and disability law, and personal injury law. Ed is a member of the Oregon State Bar and the Federal Bar for the District of Oregon.

Ed Hill received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and his law degree from the Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. At Lewis and Clark, Ed earned an American Bar Association Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. In the years between undergraduate and legal studies, Ed worked first as a journalist in Asia and later as a high school teacher in New York City. Ed has been a member of the Seafarer's International Union and the United Federation of Teachers and is a veteran of the United States Merchant Marine.

Ed Hill has helped develop and implement litigation and legislative strategies to improve the rights and benefits of injured workers in Oregon. In 2000, 2006 and 2023 Ed wrote chapters for the Continuing Legal Education treatise on workers' compensation published by the Oregon State Bar. In 2002, Ed wrote a chapter for the Continuing Legal Education handbook on private sector labor and employment law published by the Oregon State Bar.

From 1997 to 2004, Ed served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Better People, a nonprofit organization that provides job counseling, job placement, and job retention services to ex-criminal offenders. Ed was a cofounder of Better People with Oregon Legislative District 43 Representative Chip Shields. Ed is a supporter and/or member of KBOO radio, KMHD radio, Oregon Public Broadcasting, the Disjecta Gallery and performance space, Write Around Portland, P;ear, and Bicycle Transportation Alliance.

 

In his spare time Ed enjoys travel and the full range of outdoor activities that are the privilege of every Oregonian. Ed Hill is also a DJ on KXRY 107.1 FM, which has repeatedly been voted Portland's best radio station in Willamette Week readers' poll.  Ed Hill is also a DJ on KFFP-LP 90.3 FM.
